TARENTUM, Pa. -- For the first weekend since late last November, I didn't play a Mass all weekend.
I'm out here because my cousin was married Saturday, so I went to a church in nearby New Kensington today. And lo and behold, almost everyone sang at Mass! (Even though the opening song, "All Are Welcome," is high, high, high on my list of least-favorite songs.)
I was a happy camper, though, because the organist was young (probably around 19) and good, and I complimented her afterward. And the organ was in fantastic shape, too.
And maybe, just maybe, I learned a little bit more than I can take home and use at church there. After all, getting people to sing is my goal, right?
